Former First Lady Attacked - Good or Self Interest Reporting

U.S.A. - WHERE IS THE 'CLASS' IN REPORTING? ... Former First Lady Barbara Bush has been attacked by the media as to her being insensitive and a "snob," looking down upon the Louisiana victims of Hurricane Katrina, when she made reference to the fact that they will end up being better off than they were before the storm.

There is always a way to deliver a blow, that makes a statement and gets the viewpoint across, while leaving the reader with a positive opinion of the Reporter or Journalist. Unfortunately the newspapers are still of the old "ilk," that remains full of sensationalism and concern for readership count and what it takes to get it.

Indeed, Former First Lady Barbara Bush's choice of words was insensitive, and so uncharacteristic of her. It was a poor choice of words. Yet, the fact exists that those affected will end up with a better quality of life and future. That's part of what it means to be an American ... We deal with tragedy as a Nation and help no matter who you are. It's humane, compassionate and loving. It's what makes America great. We remain humble while helping those less fortunate and will fight for our people and stand strong for freedom ... Bar none!

Here's the food-for-thought. Louisiana being six feet below sea level is a major problem to begin with. Donald Trump is right ... The blame should be considered for the design in the first place, and the maintenance of the concrete berm. If the berm had not breached, there would not be a history changing event in Louisiana. This writer did an extensive study over an eight month period into the safety of dams and berms ... the man is right on target.

Individual responsibility and the decisions we make or don't make will direct the course and quality of our lives. People were warned, they had to get out, and more than once. ... Imminent disaster was pending.

We should never have to choose between freedom, life and death, or give up what we have. But, that's the irony in life. We live in an imperfect world. As such, we have to pay attention, be prepared and be willing to make a decision when the obvious kicks-us-in-the-head.

As a Nation, we shall ride out this storm, in time find peace, and as America always does, bring hope, provide a life line, and a new beginning for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
