Firefighters, A Brotherhood -"You Go, We Go"

On this September 11th, the visions are still vivid as if it was only yesterday. The feeling of pride swelled up within me seeing a familiar site of yellow strips and protective gear. It's a feeling of a sense of security and the undeniable relief these first responders present in their identifiable hat and slicker plainly marked FDNY. They came through the fog, and clouds of soot bigger than life, their proud stance and familiar walk assuring.

A brotherhood of men so close, they have coined a motto: "You Go, We Go." No firefighter will leave his brother to die. The bond is so strong, they fight the odds to protect and watch over each other.

It is in this vain, these men did what they had to do. Everyone was coming down the tower stairwells, and this brotherhood of men kept going up.

Have you ever thought about how much courage and compassion it takes to risk your life for someone else ... Someone you don't even know? So it is on this fourth anniversary, a need to say "thank you," is appropriate to you Mr. Firefighter, and "thank you" to your families for their ultimate sacrifice so countless numbers of Americans and other peoples of the world could be saved.

I still get a chill when I look upon the picture of Firefighters raising the American flag on top of the fallen tower remanents. Their statement cries out, we are down, but don't count us out!
